Armed robbery suspect arrested in attack on students at their hostel –

An armed robbery suspect, Sodiq Yahaya, was arrested by officers from the Ogun State Police Command while carrying out a robbery operation at a student hostel in Ipara Remo, Remo North local government area of ​​the state.

According to Command spokesperson Abimbola Oyeyemi, the suspect was arrested in the middle of the action on March 10, 2022.

Oyeyemi said Yahaya was arrested following a distress call received by Divisional Police Officer, Isara Divisional Headquarters, CSP Shobiyi Oluwatoshin, indicating that armed robbers numbering about six had invaded. the student hostel located in Ipara Remo.

Upon the distress call, Oluwatoshin quickly mobilized his men in conjunction with local vigilantes and rushed to the scene.

Seeing the police, the thugs opened fire on them.

The police responded.

At the end of the encounter, the robbers, who had suffered varying degrees of gunshot wounds, fled the scene and fled into the bush.

As the police chased them in the bush, Yahaya was seen lying down with gunshot wounds, and he was quickly arrested.

He reportedly gave useful information to the police regarding their past robbery operations in and around the Shagamu area.

He confessed that his gang always targets student hostels for their operation because students, especially women, are easy to rob.

Command Commissioner Lanre Bankole ordered that the suspect be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for a discreet investigation.

Bankole also ordered a massive manhunt for the remaining members of the gang.

The PC called on members of the public, especially hospital and traditional healers, to inform the police if anyone with a gunshot wound is seen in their area.
