Commissar of Backward Classes inspects hostel facilities

Mysore/Mysore: The Commissioner of the State Backward Class Welfare Department, KA Dayanand, paid a surprise visit to Post matric girls hostel in Kuvempunagar recently and had dinner with the inmates.

Interacting with boarders, he advised them to learn more on their own to gain knowledge besides listening to college teachers.

“It is not possible to achieve anything in life if you waste 9 months and only study 3 months to pass the exams. But it is possible if you study for the whole year. Students must dream big and focus on achieving their goals. Great scientists like Einstein, Thomas Alva Edison and others kept trying even after they failed hundreds of times and achieved their goals. Likewise, students must work hard without losing their focus,” he said.

District Backward Classes Department Officer HS Bindya who spoke on the occasion revealed that six new hostel buildings have been opened recently and works on other buildings are in final stages.

Pointing out that some hostels are run in private buildings for which a monthly rent of Rs. 22 lakh is paid, Bindiya appealed to the Commissioner of the State’s Backward Class Welfare Department to sanction 4 other buildings.

Chandrakala, a social worker for the backward classes of Taluk, and others were present.
