Imo OCDA seals off student hostel, warns occupants of danger signs – Reuters

Officers of Owerri Capital Development Authority, (OCDA) headed by Special Adviser/Managing Director Engr. Francis Chukwu sealed a hostel housing Imo State University (IMSU) students on Tuesday after discovering cracks on the building.

The hostel identified as God’s Destiny Apartment located in the popular Bishop’s Court, Okwu Uratta, Owerri is said to have failed the structural and integrity test which resulted in the structural defect collected by 9News Nigeria.

Engineer Chukwu, who acted quickly to prevent the building from collapsing, called on the students living in the hostel to relocate to avoid endangering their lives and property, pointing out that the Imo state government, under the leadership of Governor Hope Uzodimma, gives priority attention to the protection of the Imolites. unforeseen circumstances hence the need for proactivity in the implementation of Government policies and programs.

One of the resident students, who spoke on condition of anonymity, pointed out that it would be difficult for them to move to another hostel, pointing out that they had already paid their rent, as they expressed concern and called for ugly.
