Kota (Raj) March 1 (PTI) A 39-year-old engineer working for Chhabra Thermal Power Station in Baran district of Rajasthan near here was found hanged in his hostel room at the factory premises, police said on Friday.

Originally from Begusarai in Bihar, Mohammad Hammad Husain is believed to have died by suicide after he was upset about being transferred and taking medication to fight depression, police said.

Chhabra thermal power station is located near Chowki Motipura village at Chabbra tehsil under Bapcha police station of Baran district, 22 km from Chabbra town and 147 km from Kota.

SHO Nand Singh said Husain joined the factory as an assistant engineer more than six months ago and was due to report for work at 9 p.m. Thursday.

As he did not show up for the service, his housemate, who was on duty, called him on his cell phone which was left unattended, after which he arrived in the room and found Husain hanging from the fan in the ceiling, he said.

Police then sent the body for an autopsy, which would be carried out after his family members arrived from his place of origin, SHO said.

Police did not recover any suicide notes from the room, he said, adding that depression medication had been recovered from his room.

Police would file an FIR in the case if his family members suspected foul play and filed a complaint, the SHO said.
