Hyderabad: As the number of girls joining various courses in university colleges in Osmania is increasing every year, the university administration has opened a new century-old 500-bed hostel for girls.

OU Vice-Chancellor, Prof. D Ravinder inaugurated the hostel on Wednesday which is located near the Institute of Public Enterprise (IPE). The hostel which was built at the cost of Rs.37.5 crore from the funds of the University and RUSA has reading rooms, a spacious dining hall and a state-of-the-art kitchen.

The girl hostel was justified as the University has seen a substantial increase in the admission of girls to various colleges. Existing hostels were overcrowded, hence the initiative, the OU said.
