Thanjavur: In a shocking incident reported in Thanjavur district of Tamil Nadu, a 17-year-old class 12 student has taken her own life alleging pressure to convert to Christianity and abuse by the school principal. ‘hostel.

The girl, who was consuming pesticides, was rushed to Thanjavur Medical College Hospital for treatment. A few days later, she stopped responding to treatment and died on January 19 (Wednesday).

In her alleged death statement, the girl is said to have mentioned that her parents were approached by a nun to allow her to convert to Christianity two years ago. However, Thanjavur police denied this claim.

The victim stayed at St Michael’s Girls pension in Thanjavur, according to a report published online by India Today. The report also talks about a video where the girl allegedly claimed to have been repeatedly scolded and harassed by the hostel manager.

The victim claimed that the hostel manager forced her to clean all the rooms in the hostel. Shocked by these developments, the young girl committed suicide.

The girl’s family in Ariyalur was notified of the incident on January 10. Boarding school authorities told the girl’s father that she started vomiting on January 9 and complained of stomach pain and was hospitalized. Police have now arrested the manager of the hostel, Sakayamari, 62.
