From Lateef DadaOsogbo
the The National Association of University Students (NAUS) has blamed the negligence of the hostel owner for the fall of Ajibola Heritage, a sophomore in the linguistics and African languages department, inside a pit septic.
Speaking to reporters at a press conference in Osogbo yesterday, Osun Axis NAUS Chairman Eruobami Ayobami called on the OAU leadership to ensure that the deceased gets justice.
Students, who lamented the exorbitant rents from OAU hostel owners, lamented that many hostels are not well run.
They also called on the federal government to urgently conclude a truce with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and end the ongoing strike.
“We call on every hostel owner in the institution’s environment to make a general survey of their buildings and to make effective modifications, if necessary, in order to avoid unforeseen events later.
“We condemn the act of mismanagement and negligence on the part of the owners of the hostel, and demand a public apology from every Nigerian student with the assurance of the safety of other students.
“We call on the Federal Government to, with immediate effect, enter into a truce with ASUU to ensure that the crisis is resolved as soon as possible, in order to avoid any anomalies that pose a serious threat to the well-being of students. “
